A recent transplant from Memphis, Tennessee - Mary Bullock's dramatic figurative subjects
and intensely intimate moments are the primary focus for her provocative canvases. As she explains "I have an obsession with light as it
falls on the human form and how it passes through fabric and bounces off skin." She sites Maxfield Parrish as one of her primary influences
and has studied his techniques extensively but updating them for her purposes.
Having painted and drawn since childhood, Mary is largely self-taught. Although she put her career on hold to raise a family,
she returned to it as soon as her children were grown and has been painting furiously since. Her work is represented by several galleries across the country,
including the "ArtStream Gallery" in Rochester New Hampshire and "Artitudes" in Memphis, Tennessee. She has exhibited in numerous
national juried shows including the Salmagundi Club's Annual exhibition in New York City. Although a Southerner, Mary managed to weather the recent record
breaking Maine winter and in her own words "I love here!"
